Here is a picture I made for my brother.
It is the Beatle's Yellow Submarine.
I made it completely from paper.
The Colurs are better in real life.

Quilling
I recently bought a book called 'Crazy Art' and it was really inspirational. I strongly recommend you take a look at it. It is a collection of work by modern artists exploring different media and playing with scale.
A piece that really caught my eye was the work of artist Yulia Brodskaya. Her work with paper was beautiful and simple. Using the old fashioned method of quilling she creates intricate and colourful pieces that I have fallen in love with!
I actually first came across quilling when I was in the girl guides, but I was happy to revisit it as all the equipment you need for it is pretty cheap and easy to find!
Here is my most recent attempt,
The process is harder than it looks, trying to get the paper curls the same size. But I am really enjoying it, so keep looking back and there will be many more!

Life Drawing
Here is a selection of my most recent Life Drawings. I found a great class in Hastings that is only £8 for 3 whole hours! Plus they get a great rang of models so far I have had a different model each week. A welcome change from the same old Myra from uni. Sorry Myra, but you were very uninteresting to draw, especially after the first 10 times.
I used a pencil (9B), and some charcoles (black and brown)
I want to practice drawing faces at my next session.

My Mutant Rat Sculpt
I really wanted to continue my Rat vs Crocodile project so the next step I took was to sculpt the mutant rat. This was to get an idea of his shape and proportions, and brush up on my sculpting skills!
I like the way this has turned out. I think when I make the actual puppet, I might play around with his hunch back. Maybe shorten his neck and lower his head.
I sculpted this out of stone coloured newplast plastercine, with a wire armature inside.

Full Crocodile Vs Mutant Rat Storyboard
Thank you to all the people who supported my work and voted for my storyboard to win, but I dont think I have won :( at least not on numbers!
But there is still a slim chance, because the judges get to pick a wild card option regaurdless how many people voted for it. So hopefully they will like my entry.
I'll let you know what happens with that, but in the mean time, here is the full length version of the storyboard.
I really like the idea of this project and I have decided that winner or not, I will continue to work on it and make the animation myself. It may take me a while, but I really want to do it. To start things off, I will sculpt the mutant rat!
I'll post pics when he's done, but for now,
enjoy!

Ray Harryhausen Competition
Ok so I didnt win the Red Bull competition, but at least I tried right?
Well for my next project I found this awesome Ray Harryhausen Storyboard competition!
The prizes are amazing and the brief is simple;
Draw out a storyboard for a Harryhausen-esq story that is between 30secs and 3mins long.
Prizes: the winning film will be made and screened at the Barbican in London,
the winner will meet Ray at his own home in London
and get a one on one, hour long lecture with tutors from the national film and television school!
How could I say no!?
So I thought to myself, I want to do a myth or legend that has never been done before. I decided to go with the urban myth that crocodiles live in the New York sewers. But what if there is something else that lives in the sewers that is equally scarey!? Perhaps a giant mutated rat? If the two should meet, who would win?
Well who do you think would win?
